⚲ Ashgate Hospice
This weekend we were invited to Ashgate Hospice to see the work they do first-hand. Less than a third of their funding comes from the NHS. They have to raise most of what they need themselves, every single year. Every penny we raise goes straight to Ashgate. If you can spare anything at all, it genuinely makes a difference. And if you know a business that might fancy sponsoring the taxi, with their logo on the side, I’d love to hear from you.

Our first breakdown and we've not even set off yet!
The Vehicle
Our 2010 London Taxi TX4. Retired from the streets of Manchester, un-retired for one last job.
She’s got more miles on the clock than most cars will ever see. But she’s still got it where it counts. A proper London black cab taking on Hardknott Pass and the Highlands. What could possibly go wrong?
Miles and counting. Mostly counting.
The Crew
Owner & Driver
Steve is the founder of Spacestar Digital with a love for cars and roadtrips with friends. He's already done the North Coast 500 and a rally around Wales, although in something a bit more reliable. At home he keeps a 1998 classic Mini Cooper in British Racing Green.
DJ & Navigation
Jonny’s experienced road trips in America and Scotland already, which means he’s qualified to take on the most important job on the trip; the playlist. And, as the taxi’s DJ, he’s taking requests (as long as it’s for hip-hop or country music.)
Scenic Route Advisor
Luke enjoys a good road trip, questionable navigation decisions, and any excuse to drive something with character. He's usually the one suggesting the scenic route, even when it adds two hours. The taxi might regret letting him behind the wheel.
The Fare
Every pound on this meter goes straight to Ashgate Hospice. No detours.

The Cause
Ashgate Hospice provides palliative and end-of-life care free of charge to people aged 18 and over across North Derbyshire, including those living with cancer, neurological diseases, and end-stage heart, kidney and lung diseases.
Rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission for 11 consecutive years, Ashgate receives less than a third of its funding from the NHS. The rest has to be raised every year through its shops, lottery, events, and the goodwill of supporters. That's where the taxi comes in.

The ones behind the wheel
The taxi has been purchased by Spacestar Digital. By day, they build beautiful websites and digital products for the likes of BP, Castrol and Mitsubishi Electric. By rally week, they'll be covered in mud somewhere in Scotland.
Beyond the taxi, the team pay their own way – travel, food and hotels – every penny you give goes straight to Ashgate Hospice.
